This is the botanical chicken that started it all! Wanting to try my hand and painting wedding bouquets, I spent the day “trying” to paint my DIL’s beautiful bouquet. 8 hours later, I called my sister in tears because no matter what I did, my colors were brighter than the actual elegant colors of the bouquet. I thought the day a waste. Wanting to save it, I spotted a chicken within, much like you spot animals in the clouds. a new addiction was born…I now see chickens in every tree, flower, and weed I see!
Each of my compositions includes a hidden tick (yes, the insect!), to honor the birds’ tick eating jobs, keeping the family safe from further tickborne illnesses and allergies.

Inspired by beloved pets, the original artwork is a watercolor inspired my chicken named Lady. Lady (short for Lil’ Old Lady) struggled with ill health for a couple of years but handled it with grace and was forever the sweetest. Yes sweet, but as the look on her face shows, she might have considered eating that bee.

Inspired by beloved pets, the original artwork is a watercolor of Henny Penny, who spends her days adventuring around the farm, watching butterflies and dodging her owner (the artist!) when it’s time to get back into the coop.

Inspired by beloved pets, the original artwork is a watercolor of Stripey, who is the best little girl, loved by everyone from my two-year-old granddaughter on up.

Inspired by beloved pets, the original artwork is a watercolor inspired my sister’s Polish chicken, Charlotte. Charlotte is quite queenly with all her plumage and is a sweet docile girl. Though it’s hard to see Charlotte’s eyes in real life, they needed to show in the artwork, so she is identifiable as a chicken, not a pile of leaves :-).
